Patriots bring out aggression in Pete Carroll and Seahawks in one of NFL’s great chess matches

November 17, 2016

After – this time – his defense made the play to win the game, after – this time – Seattle defeated New England at the goal line, after – this time – he could shrug off a bold late-game coaching decision with the strength of a victor, Pete Carroll jogged, skipped and slapped his way off the field here.He high-fived fullback Will Tukuafu, banged on the shoulder pads of defensive end/linebacker Frank Clark, and waved and pumped his fist to the Seattle fans going wild next to the Gillette Stadium tunnel. Carroll once coached this franchise and then took his most painful NFL loss – in Super Bowl XLIX – from it.He may have wanted to claim that this was just another game, just another quality win, 31-24, but soon he was in the locker room, juju-ing on the beat as the locker room pulsed with music. It was enough for him to laugh at his own absurdity, 65 years old and dancing like a kid. That was before he made sure to share a quiet moment with quarterback Russell Wilson at his locker.
