To perform the Football Hurdle Drill For Explosive Agility athletes will need a set of Kbands Leg Resistance Bands and 11 hurdles or cones. There are two different drills which make up the football agility training drill.
For the first drill athletes will set up 5 hurdles in a straight line with 1-2 yards between. Athletes will attach their Kbands Leg Resistance Bands and line up at the end of the line. Athletes will drive their outside foot across their body and place it in the first hurdle opening while following with their back leg and placing it between the next two hurdles or cones. Athletes will continue this pattern down and back two times, finishing the last time down the line with a 10 yard sprint. Complete 6-8 resisted sets of this Hurdle Crossover Drill.
For the second drill athletes will create 3 lines of cones which are 10-12 yards long. The two outside lines will be made of of 3 cones each and will be placed in a staggered formation which progresses at a 45 degree angle. The middle row will be made up of 5 hurdles placed evenly between the first and last outside hurdle or cone. Athletes will attach their resistance and move laterally from outside cone to outside cone, placing two feet between the center hurdle gaps and one foot outside of the wide hurdle lines. Complete 6-8 resisted sets of the drill before removing the resistance and performing 2 unresisted sets.
